SLET Exam 2024: The SET serves as a crucial examination for candidates aspiring for teaching positions within the northeastern region of Assam. It assesses candidates’ eligibility and proficiency in various subjects, ensuring a high standard of teaching in the region. The SLET Commission Assam (N.E. Region) is gearing up to conduct the State Eligibility Test (SET) 2024 on the 17th of March 2024, which falls on a Sunday. There are no age restrictions for candidates appearing in the SLET Exam. Those who successfully qualify in the test become eligible to apply for the position of Assistant Professor within the jurisdiction of the Member-States governed by this SLET Commission.

Candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • General/Unreserved/General-EWS candidates must have obtained a minimum of 55% marks (without rounding off) in their Master’s Degree or an equivalent examination from universities or institutions recognized by the UGC.
  • However, candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Persons with Disabilities (PWD), and Other Backward Classes (OBC) categories (non-creamy layer) are eligible to appear in the test if they have secured a minimum of 50% marks (without rounding off) in their Master’s degree or an equivalent examination.
  • Candidates who are currently in the final year of their Master’s degree program or are awaiting the results of their final qualifying examination may also apply for the SLET Exam. Additionally, candidates whose qualifying examination results have been delayed are also eligible to apply.

The State Level Eligibility Test (SLET) comprises two papers, each featuring objective-type questions of various formats:

  1. Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
  2. Matching Questions
  3. Assertion and Reasoning Questions
  4. True and False Questions

Candidates will encounter these question formats across both Paper I and Paper II of the SLET examination. This diverse range of question types aims to comprehensively assess candidates’ knowledge and understanding of the subject matter being tested.

Paper-I of the State Level Eligibility Test (SLET) is dedicated to assessing the general aptitude of the candidate for teaching and research purposes. It is structured to evaluate the candidate’s reasoning ability, comprehension skills, divergent thinking capabilities, and overall awareness.

On the other hand, Paper-II consists of 100 objective-type questions specifically focused on the chosen subject. Each question in Paper-II carries 2 marks, and there is no negative marking. This paper aims to assess the candidate’s in-depth knowledge and understanding of the subject area.
